The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) has selected TransLink to receive the 2019 Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement Award.

The award recognizes a transit agency's ridership growth, operational efficiency, maintenance initiatives, customer service, financial management, marketing and sustainability.

APTA considered performance between 2016 and 2018, a period in which TransLink logged an 18 percent increase in ridership and achieved record highs in on-time performance, TransLink officials said in a press release.

"TransLink's ridership has reached unprecedented levels and despite our enormous growth, we've also managed to achieve an all-time high for customer satisfaction," said TransLink Chief Executive Officer Kevin Desmond.

TransLink won the award in the large transportation system category, which recognizes systems in Canada and the United States that log 20 million or more annual passenger trips.
