Bi-State Development has promoted Mark Vago to senior vice president and chief financial officer.

He'll succeed Kathy Klevorn, who's scheduled to retire July 1. Vago and Klevorn will work together to ensure a smooth transition, Bi-State Development officials said in a press release.

Bi-State Development governs Metro Transit-St. Louis, which operates a 46-mile light-rail system.

Vago has served as the agency's controller since February 2012. Before joining Bi-State Development in 2008, he served as controller for Missouri Goodwill Industries, corporate account manager for United Industries and financial manager for Laclede Steel Co.

"Mark has nearly three decades of experience in finance and accounting, and he has played a tremendous role during his time at Bi-State Development to strengthen our reputation as a transparent, trustworthy and fiscally responsible organization," said Bi-State Development President and Chief Executive Officer John Nations.
