Dewberry has obtained a design-build contract for MTA Long Island Rail Road's (LIRR) second track expansion project on the Ronkonkoma Branch.

The firm will serve as the lead designer on L.K. Comstock & Co. Inc.'s design-bid-build and design-build team for the project. The design-build portion of the project includes major updates to two stations.

Dewberry's work at the Wyandanch Station includes the design of two 1,020-foot platforms, new canopy structures and a new pedestrian bridge with elevators that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The company also will provide an integral snow-melting system in the platforms, Dewberry officials said in a press release.

For the Pinelawn Station, the firm will design two 192-foot platforms, passenger shelters and other site improvements.

In June 2017, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority awarded a $66 million contract to L.K. Comstock for LIRR's second-track project.
