Construction is underway to improve access to the Savannah Gateway Industrial Hub near the Port of Savannah, Georgia.

McCall Road, which provides access to the eastern portion of the industrial park, will be widened from Highway 21 toward the park. Completion is expected by March 2019, said Mike Martin, vice president of development at OmniTRAX Inc., the park's developer.

The improved access will help open up the 2,700-acre park for development, Martin said in a press release.

"We're excited to take this next step in what will be a transformative development for the area," he said. "We also look forward to having the Effingham Parkway completed, which will open up the balance of the park and provide excellent access to the major transportation arteries that serve the Port and greater Savannah area."

Located about a dozen miles form the port, the hub will be served by CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway.
