Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) commuter-rail system officials announced it will open the eastbound Harrison Station tomorrow in Harrison, New Jersey.

The eastbound redevelopment is part of PATH’s $256 million modernization of the 76-year-old Harrison Station. It is glass-enclosed, with weather-protected entrances, elevators, widened stairs and escalator access to the platform.

In addition, it has an extended platform able to accommodate10-car trains. The Newark–World Trade Center Line that serves the station will begin operating 10-car trains at an unannounced future date, according to a PATH press release.

PATH opened the first portion of the westbound Harrison Station in 2018.

Ridership from Harrison Station has risen 30 percent over the past six years, from slightly more than 2 million in 2012 to more than 2.6 million in 2018.
