Caltrain next week will launch a project to rehabilitate its station in Sunnyvale, California.

The project calls for relocating the north pedestrian crossing to allow six-car trains to load and unload at the station platform without blocking existing crossings. In addition, crews will improve concrete surfaces that have become uneven.

The work is aimed at making the station safer for passengers, Caltrain officials said in a press release.

Construction is slated to begin March 12 and continue through fall. The project's $750,000 cost will be paid for with local and Caltrain funds.
