The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) in Texas has created an 11-step plan to welcome returning commuter-rail riders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan is designed to outline the precautions and safety efforts DCTA is taking during the pandemic to increase rider confidence in the system, DCTA officials said in a press release.

The plan highlights efforts to:

enhance cleaning with medical-grade disinfectant; update rail service to ensure safety and social distancing; require employees and riders to wear face masks on trains and at stations; limit business hours of the Downtown Denton Transit Center;
install signage to remind riders of ways to stay safe; promote contactless payment options; allow non-essential employees to work from home; install hand sanitizer dispensers at rail stations; increase customer communication efforts; and deliver personal protective equipment to nonprofits in Denton County.

DCTA published its plan in an interactive online format.
