The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) announced yesterday it received the 2019 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award from the National Procurement Institute for the ninth consecutive year.
The award recognizes public and nonprofit agencies for establishing best practices for procuring public contracts and for demonstrating innovation, professionalism and leadership in the process, OCTA officials said in a press release.
OCTA is one of 46 agencies in California and one of 39 special districts in the United States and Canada to receive the award.
The agency has an annual budget of more than $1.5 billion and contracts for the purchase of a range of goods and services, including office supplies, consultant services and multimillion-dollar construction contracts.
OCTA is a mass transit provider for Orange County, California, and is part of the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, which governs the Metrolink commuter rail in Southern California.
