Canadian Pacific raised more than CA$400,000 for homeless veterans through a Spin for a Veteran event, which raises funds for the Homes for Heroes Foundation.All funds raised through the event, held Nov. 9-10, doubled the fundraising goal of CA$200,000, and brought the total dollars donated from the past four years to over CA$1.2 million. Each CA$100,000 builds one home, bringing CP's total to 12 homes since 2016, CP officials said in a press release.Seven CP teams participated in this year's 24-hour spin competition. The team comprised of CP's military veterans won the competition, covering about 538.6 miles.The Spin for a Veteran event was developed in response to the growing number of military veterans who have returned to civilian life and now face crisis, according to the event's website.

Kansas City Southern's Holiday Express project so far this year has raised $148,115 in a fundraiser to benefit The Salvation Army in 20 communities on the Class I's network.
KCS officials announced in September that the company would launch the fundraiser to mark the Holiday Express program's 20th anniversary. Yesterday, the company issued a challenge grant to raise even more, KCS officials said in a press release.
